    My 3D Modelling Journey

Hey there! I’m moWerk, and i welcome you to my world of 3D modelling, practical design, and culinary craftsmanship. My journey is a blend of technology, creativity, and a deep appreciation for both open-source software and Japanese cuisine. Let’s dive in.

    From BBSs to 3D Modelling
My tech adventure began with the V(i)C20, and by 1992, I was involved in local BBSs, learning the art of digital communication. By 1996, I was building school websites, and from 1997–2002, I ran a company creating websites for local businesses, honing my skills in customer relationships, UI/UX, and FOSS. I also completed several semesters of computer science, which shaped my approach to 3D modelling—practical, clean, user-friendly, and community-driven. I’ve published 156 models as of writing this blog post. 3D modelling feels like the culmination of my digital life, magically creating functional and practical objects that bridge the virtual and real worlds.

    Practical Designs for Real-World Problems
As a 3D designer, I’m dedicated to creating practical designs that solve real problems or serve a genuine purpose. Whether it’s fixing my Lenovo E15 shift key, crafting KRATZBLITZ—a heavy-duty ice scraper—or reimagining the iconic Technics SL 1210 as a coaster holder, my models are built to last and improve everyday life. My home improvement projects, such as cable management brackets, curtain rails, and bathroom items, reflect my focus on detail and user experience. It’s not just about aesthetics; it’s about efficiency and functionality that integrates seamlessly into your space.

    UI/UX and FOSS Enthusiasm
My work on AsteroidOS, an open-source operating system for smartwatches, reflects my passion for UI/UX and FOSS. I believe in creating tools that empower users, giving them control over their devices and data. This philosophy extends to my 3D models—accessible, customizable, and free for the community to remix and improve. My GitHub mirroring strategy ensures proper versioning, making it easy for others to collaborate and iterate. Printables, with its kind community and extraordinarily well-designed website, is my platform of choice for sharing and growing.

    A Sushi Chef’s Perspective
For 20 years, I’ve traveled as a sushi chef, dedicating myself to the art of Japanese cuisine. This experience has taught me precision, patience, and the importance of quality and persitence. Just as I strive to perfection in preparing precious fish, I approach 3D modelling with the same meticulous care. Professional tools like my Makisu (sushi roll mat), and the wood dragon puzzle are infused with this culinary ethos, combining form and function in a way that’s both beautiful and practical.

    Looking Forward
I’m committed to growing moWerk, focusing on Printables for its community and design excellence. My blog will be the hub for my story, sharing insights from my journey. I plan to mirror all models to GitHub for proper versioning, and evolve my designs along community feedback.
